CHILL Embraces the Flow by Anne Difreese Christy Hill is versatile. She creates everything from illustrations, animations, interactive projects, web design, to perhaps her most hidden and overlooked talent, creative writing. Christys poem Insulation was voted Best of Show for the FlowGalérias Illusion exhibit and launches Christys writing debut. Her poem brings the reader into her experience of soaking in the bath. Christy participates in a weekly writing group The Tea Totalers where she workshops poetry and short stories. She finds inspiration from the other writers work, learns from feedback, and enjoys the camaraderie. Christy intends to move into the public arena with her writing, reading at open mics and submitting work to literary magazines and other publications. An important element that is revealed through all aspects of Christys multi-media work is her ability to tell stories. Whether it be through photography, illustration, animation, web design or graphic design an underlying story, theme or message is clearly communicated. Her storyboards, illustrations, immersive environments demonstrate attention to minute details that influence the overall picture and narrative. Christy recently merged her writing and Illustration to create her first childrens book Similar Not the Same. She is currently seeking a publisher. Christy has developed a distinct style of illustration. You may have seen her illustrations in numerous publications including the Alibi, BC Business Magazine, the Georgia Straight, the Loop, motherjones.com and the Willamette Week under the tag name CHILL. Her illustrations are now available on products at www.cafepress.com/chillfactor Growing up in Eastern Quebec, Canada, studying art at the Bauhaus in Germany, receiving her Bachelors Degree in Communications at Emily Carr provided Christy with a strong sense of identity and a hunger for learning. After graduation she worked as a graphic designer in New York; while working at a corporate web consulting company she discovered that she greatly missed control over her creativity. She elected to move back to Vancouver to pursue her artistic dreams and seek clients that hire her to be highly creative. Now Christy is successfully developing her company Chillfactor Communications, a new media company where she is founder and creative director. In the spirit of the flow Christy continues exploring creative ideas through use of photography, interactive design, illustration and writing. She is a regular contributor to the FlowGaléria Exhibits. See her previous submissions here. |
