Beth and Her Dreams

I was born May 19, 1973 in Lansing Michigan. I’ve been a Michigan native my whole life, but thanks to my father I’ve had summers spent in Chicago and Boston, giving me a bit more city influence which helped expand my tastes a bit.

I’ve been drawing since I can remember, most likely because the majority of my family takes part in the arts in some fashion and it seemed a very natural thing to do. The way I approach creating my art depends on the piece. I’ve always been a pen and ink artist, but as I grew older I got more involved with water color and photography. In 1998 I learned how to take my traditional work and merge it together in different fashions by use of computer aided art programs. Most of my work is mixed medium.

I think the most important thing to me with my work is expressing a story. I’m also a writer and the majority of my artwork has been created to illustrate a story. Someday I hope to show off my writing and art together in the fashion meant.

Various Notes

My very first published work was a comic called “A Butterfly on Angel Wings” and was eight issues, and printed in two small runs between 1995-96 The original publisher went out of business so finding copies (even for myself) has become almost impossible.

My photography has graced the covers of six issues of Capricorn magazine, a very small publication done locally in Michigan over 1994-96.

Circlet Press commissioned six covers for their vampire anthology, the first one available now, called “Taste of Midnight”

A portion of my fiction was used for the introduction to photograph John Santerineross’ first collection of work, Fruit of the Secret God.

I was a featured artist in the first issue of the publication, “Dark Realms” Jan 2000

My first gallery exhibit happened this past October at the Echo Gallery in Chicago. I was apart of a group Halloween exhibit.
