Your
favourite medium used to express yourself
Through writing actually. As far as visual work, pen
and ink. When you work with white and black and have to use shading methods
and put more detail into the image to give it some depth, you have to put
a bit more time, effort, and thought into the image.
Your favourite time of the day to create
Between 7pm and 12am.
What / who inspires you
My writing, music and other artists..
Do you have a designated creative space
My bed. Id like an honest studio one day, but for
now spreading out on my bed and working on my pillows. Except for what has
to be done on the computer.
Who are the people supporting you in pursuing your dreams
My love Matthew, my dear friends Diana, John and Brittany,
and my father and my aunt. The best supporter I ever had was my mother before
her passing.
Your views on the importance of education in an art
career
I havent had the benefit of education, but I do believe
it can be helpful. I think art is one of those things you can get away with
not being taught and disciplined in though.
Your views on the importance of education in a design career
Design is a bit different than art. Theres quite
a few things involved in design which can be taught or improved upon by
having some education. Especially when it comes to the tools to be used.
A person can certainly be an untaught designer, but the education not only
can be valuable, but is mandatory if you go out seeking an actual design
job. Most people wont even view a portfolio without a certain amount of
education and experience.
How does the web serve you / Does it serve you
The web has been a blessing for me. Without it Id
probably still be some unknown person in the Midwest with cupboards full
of artistic work gone unseen, and stories gone unread. Its instant access
to anything I want to present and its not restricted to location. Anyone,
anywhere with access can come upon my work. I love that.
Your favourite colour / Do you have one
I dont have a favorite single color. I like a grouping
of colors I usually attribute to autumn. The slightly darker and more bruised
version of the regular color palette.
Your favourite musical instrument to listen to
I dont have a single instructment. I think music
sounds best when its a collage of many different sounds woven together.
If I had to narrow down one which can be very beautiful on its own, it
would be the violin. The violin played by the writer musician can be like
a flawless voice singing without words.
List of (3) people you admire
Diana, John, David.
If you had (3) more lives what would you do / be
Be a cabaret performer, a musician (who could actually
carry a tune!), probably an artist again, I cant imagine a life without
that.
Your favorite physical activity
It is swimming.
List of (5) things you enjoy doing in your free time
Reading, traveling, being with my friends, sitting
outside on a decent day, going to hockey games.
Your favourite childhood memory regarding creativity/
How were you encouraged to be creative as a child
For a few months I was taken care of by my grandma
Eva and grandpa Stuart when my mother went to be with my aunt in another
state where she was ill. My grandpa told me hed frame the next drawing
I made and hang it on the family room wall. So I sweated over this picture
that afternoon. Kind of your typical six year olds drawing. Vanilla paper
and crayola markers. I had myself outside on a sunny day next to a tree.
My grandpa framed it and hung it on the wall and I was very proud.
What did you like to do most at the age of 10
Run around my backyard pretending to be Venus
in a cape for some reason.
List of (5) things you would like to own
I dont even know.
The bravest / boldest thing you have ever done
Im not sure. Im just stubborn in general so Ive
done a lot of things out of sheer stubbornness that my family has attributed
to being bold. I guess just telling everyone to think of me what they wanted,
I was going to deal with my life as I saw fit.
What scares you most about life
Seeing those I love suffer.
